For God So Loved Me…

IMG_5289Ever question Gods love for you? This thought came to me this morning as I was driving to work. And God answered me “I have never loved anyone more than I love you.” And I wondered can I believe this? As someone who has messed up so much in my life? Can I trust this? That God doesn’t love the woman in the car next to me more? And John 3:16 popped in my head. It’s a simple verse. But packed with so much promise in it.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son. That WHOEVER believed in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” Two things here that we can cling to today and any day we question if God loves us. First, “For God So loved the world.” Now God is always clear in His word. 1 Corinthians 14:33 assures us of that. ” God is not the author of confusion…” So If God wanted the Bible to say “For God so loved the ones who did this, but not this, and did that, but not that,” He would have. Whatever your “this and that” may be. I have my own. We all do. So right there in the beginning of this verse I am told and assured that God loves me. No matter what. It’s unconditional and without stipulations. And as if that’s not enough to be assured of, there is more.
Second we read this, “That whoever believe in Him (meaning Jesus) is given everlasting life.” Not the ones who get this right or that right. Not someone who can do enough good works to balance out their sins. No, all I have to do, all you have to do, is believe in Jesus. Accept Him as our personal Savior. Again God is not excluding anyone from this amazing love and gift. No one! That’s great news for those of us who question that from time to time!
Now does that mean we continue to just live life as we want? With no regard to God except to accept His Son? Fire insurance as I call it. No, of course not. When we accept Jesus the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, with us. In John 14 Jesus speaks of the promise of the Holy Spirit. Verse 26, “But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything I’ve said to you.” The Holy Spirit simply put, is our guide to living this life for Jesus. Help us make more Christ like decisions and choices. This gets easier in time the longer we follow Jesus. And the more we read our Bible. Remember in the verse it said ” will remind you of everything I’ve said to you.” Well since we didn’t live when Jesus did, the only way we can know what he has said, is to read it. Makes sense right! I read 10 minutes each morning. It starts my day off right, setting my mind on God and not the world. But it doesn’t matter when you do it, just do it! It’s vital to walking this life with more peace and courage and strength.
So, if you’re like I was this morning, focusing on if God loves you as much as others, I hope this helped! It did me! Remember that God knew we would never get everything right, that’s why He sent His Son. To be perfect for us! All of us! Meditate on that today. Really let it sink in just how loved you are by your creator. Your Heavenly Father. Pray for strength to live as Godly a life as you can, but also to accept his love and forgiveness when you don’t. Grace! We all need grace! Thank goodness God is full of it!
