Counting Our Blessings…

IMG_5454Counting our blessings…
A co-worker of mine asked if I could write an upbeat blog this time. I guess mine have been a little heavy lately. So here ya go E!! This blog will be on counting our blessings. No matter how much we have lost in life, or never had in life, there is always blessings surrounding that.
Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” What better time to go to God with Thanksgiving, than this Thanksgiving holiday? Do you keep a gratitude journal? Journaling of any kind is a great way to get things out we fill stuck in. Sometimes it’s hard to see our blessings around the pain we feel. So forcing ourselves to sit down with a pen and paper is a great way to get those blessings to come to mind. I’m going to give you a peek into mine. Well if I kept one. For a blogger, I’m terrible at keeping journals. But I stand by my previous thoughts on them. 😊
If I kept one it would go something like this. It would simply be titled “Thank you God for…” First entry: My friends. I have some of the most amazing friends anyone could ask for. They have stuck by me through the absolute worst of times and best of times. When I became ill two years ago and fought a battle of a lifetime, they stepped up in some of the most amazing ways. They never forgot who I was and what I was capable of fighting back from, even when I did. Though I tell them, they will never truly know what they mean to me. And they put up with my jokes and special sense of humor. My friends truly are one of the best parts of me. I love them with an everlasting love.
Second Entry: My family. Though we can have our differences, I know they love me. And I love them. They have my back when I need it. They believe in me even through the hard times. I know that if I need anything, and it’s in their ability to give it, all I have to do is ask. And that uncle of mine is where I get that special sense of humor from. My heart, the one that can never seem to give up on love, I get that from my mom. My stubbornness, my ability to never give up on anything, that’s from my Ginny.( My grandmother.) My family though not perfect, is a blessing in my life.
Third entry: My job. I am a pre-k teacher. I am surrounded daily by little ones filled with so much love to give. And though they can drive me beyond crazy. When I look back it’s the sweet moments that I remember most. As a woman who has not been blessed with her own children, I am surrounded daily by the love of many little ones.
That’s enough about me. How about you? What can you say you are thankful for in your life? What can you go to God for today and thank Him? And even though it might not make sense. Thank Him for the hard blessings too. The ones that come through loss and pain. There is so much wisdom and growth to be had in our hard times. I thank God for the things I’ve learned in my journey of growth these past 2 years. It’s not belittling what we have been through. It’s simply looking for the ways God can bless us even In the midst of pain. And though not easy to do, it is imperative to going on with our lives.
There is so much to be thankful for. And please know I thank God for each one of you. To those who are kind enough to follow me on here, to those who click like or comment, and to those who read that I’m not aware of. I pray for each one of you. Maybe not by name all the time, but God knows who you are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me the opportunity to be just a tiny part of your life. Your journey. I sincerely hope it’s a journey for us all to living our best lives.
Psalm 100
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Let’s go to God today and everyday with a thankful heart. Even through the trials and tribulations, there are blessings. We just gotta be open to seeing and acknowledging them. May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! ❤
