Check Yes Or No…

EAE50B61-7FAD-4C75-951D-7A909575B586Remember that silly note we all probably slipped to someone a few desks over at least once during our adolescence? Maybe yours didn’t ask “ Do you love me?” but it surely had something to do with asking if that other person was interested in you. If that person wanted to spend their time with you. If that person wanted to dedicate a portion of themselves to you. As far as we could in middle school that is. Well someone else is slipping you that question everyday of your life too. Maybe not in this form, but an invitation none the less. God is inviting you to do life with Him.
God wants us to be His. He wants us to be committed to Him. He wants us to love Him with our whole heart. Mark 12:30, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” And not just love Him with all your heart but trust in Him too. Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” God invites us everyday through His words and promises to love Him, accept Him, and do life with Him. Our response is vital to living our best life. Not easiest life, because life will rarely be easy. That doesn’t mean it still can’t be lived to its best. (Here’s a hint I’m just now learning myself, my best life is found in Gods will for it.)
Heres the truth God has laid on my heart to share with you. It’s on sin and loving Him. First off I feel led to say that sinning doesn’t mean you don’t love God. Yes as Christ followers we are called to live as pure and as close to His example as we can. However we are all human and prone to sin. We are all prone to walking away. One of my favorite song lyrics right now is from a Toby Mac song. It says, “Break the will of this born defector.” I sing that as a prayer now. Please know today that sinning does not mean you don’t love God. It means you need the Savior like the rest of us. Just don’t make a habit out of using it as a get out of jail free card. That’s not how it works either.
You see sin has a way of separating us from God. Not because God goes anywhere, He is constant. He does not move. James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Therefore it’s not God who puts the separation there or changes His plans for us. No, we do that ourselves. Honesty time. When you do something you know to be sin, something that you really know you shouldn’t have. How do you feel afterwards going to God asking Him to bless your life? Asking Him for anything? Most of us would answer that it becomes more difficult. Some of us (my hand is raised) might even at times stop praying, stop asking, because we feel too ashamed to. Even though it clearly states in Gods word that His gifts, His blessings, do not change.
I know for me I want to do big things in this life of mine for God. I pray for His blessings over this blog. I pray for His blessings over my life both personal and professional. I desire to start a ministry some day assuring people that life is not over even when all outward circumstances says it is. To help others see that God loves them and wants to help them live the life He has planned for them. There is so many wants, desires, hopes, and dreams, I lift up to God. But after I sin I don’t feel like He will listen. Or okay, even if He listens, He surely won’t “grant me” any of them. I’m too dirty, I’ve messed up too many times, I’m not worthy, and so on. Any of these sound familiar? This is what the enemy wants. He knows that Jesus covers it all. He knows he can’t fight that. But he can get us so defeated in our sin, that we stop believing in the cross. To make us believe we are the one that grace can’t change. That we have no right to anything accept hurt, lost dreams, and a dead end life. I know I’m guilty of living out that lie for far too long. I don’t want that for anyone else!
This morning this message was put on my heart to share. I always say that I won’t write unless I feel it’s from God. I woke up at 6:15 this morning with these words on my heart. God wants you to know today that He hasn’t gone anywhere. That sin you think is too big, or you’ve done too often, the cross covers it! You are still so loved by Him. He still knows all He wishes to do in your life. (Jeremiah 29:11) He wants you to know that He still has good in store for you. So come back to Him today! No longer allow the enemy to make you believe God has left you. The cross bridged the gap long ago! Simply walk across it into the arms of your Heavenly Father. Again we are called to live as free from sin as we can. However when we do mess up, this message God is telling you today will always apply. There is no limit to Gods unlimited grace.
It’s my prayer that this reaches who needs it today. That you will be set free from the guilt and shame that has plagued you for too long. I know what that’s like. I lived out my own horror of being crippled by the lies of the enemy. It wrecked my life. Today though I’m writing these words. There is always hope to be found when we check yes to God. And notice there is not a maybe option. With God it’s yes or no only. Remember the verses above? With your “whole heart”, because that’s how much God Loves you. After all, He sacrificed His son so that your sin would never separate Him from you. What’s God asking you today? To trust Him, to follow Him, to surrender to Him, to love Him with all of who you are? No matter what His question is to you today. What’s your answer gonna be? As always I’m praying for you.
