What If It’s My Fault, Then What?

I know God goes with me when I am living within His will, following His commandments. I know that if God sends me to it, He will get me through it. I know that God will rescue me when I’m living out His way for me. It’s there in His word. Exodus 33:14 “The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” This is God talking to Moses after He is questioning God about who He will send with him as he goes where God told him to. Yes Moses is following what God said, so of course God will be with him. What if we aren’t where we should be, but the opposite of where we should be, will God be with us then?
In a short answer, yes. How do we know? Romans 5:8, “ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” If God sent His Son to die for us while we were still doing life our way, sinning against Him, then certainly He is with us in those moments. He is there waiting for us to look up and find Him. Gods love, grace, forgiveness, mercy, go with us, it’s up to us to realize them. No matter where you are. No matter what you have done. No matter how many times you have messed up. No matter how far you feel from God right now. No matter how far off track your life feels. God. Is. With. You. He is waiting for you to know you can come to Him as you are, from where you are. Jesus died so you and I were never separated from God again. Cry out right now, not be found by God, but find He was always there.
I know this to be true through very personal experience. In my case though I thought I was doing life with God. I thought I was more like Moses, not perfect by any means, but going with God for sure. Going His way. It wasn’t until my life started to fall apart that I could see how wrong I was. Doing life on my own power not in the power of God.I was too busy pretending I was okay, forcing life to go the way I wanted, all under the false perception I was doing Gods will. For me however, though God wad always with me, He had to break me or allow me to break in order to get my attention fully on Him.
Maybe that’s you today and to don’t know it. Here’s a simple but true way to know who you are living for. Are your prayers “God please help me do (and you fill in your own request, your own plan). God please help me find a spouse, get that job, or many oter requests we as humans make. Or does your prayer go like this, “Dear God your will be done not mine. Help me live out your plans for me.” I know that second prayer is a hard one. I’m still learning how to make that my prayer in all things. I will share this, when I started using this prayer my life became a lot more manageable. There is something said for knowing you don’t have to force life. You don’t have to chase life. Simply surrender it to the One who knows where it’s going anyways.
So yes, God goes with you even when you’re still taking your life your way. Making mistakes, bad choices, as you do all you can to make your life al you want it to be. I made so many bad choices so I know that when you’re ready to stop, God will help you. Just as He helps me everyday. I’m not selling you an easy fix here. Following God’s will is not always easy. There are times I find it extremely difficult. However that’s when I remind myself Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” So can you.
Today if you need to pray this prayer. “God, I know I have been living my life for me. From this moment on please help me want to pray for your will over my life, not my own. Thank you God for never giving up on me. For sending Jesus to die for me even when I wasn’t living for you.” God will send you the strength needed daily to keep going with Him.
From me to you, thank you for taking the time to read this. Helping others find their way back through God is now my lifes passion. Once you realize you have a relationship with God, not a religion, doing life for and with God becomes so much easier. Not learning to be happy necessarily, but remembering how to. Realizing that joy in all things are possible.
